Thanks to my customers, I have been able to contribute $302 so far from jewelry sales towards the Earthquake relief.
Kyoko Honda Jewelry has now donated 5 sterling silver necklaces and 10 sterling silver earrings to the “Ring of Love for Japan” , which was formed by Japanese jewelry designers and other participating designers.
The charity event will be held at ABC Carpet & Home, 888 Broadway, NYC, on April 9 & 10 from 2 – 6PM. All profit of this event will be donated to Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake Tsunami Relief.
Kyoko will also be present as volunteer salesperson herself.

I want to thank many of you for thinking of the well being of my family in Japan. To my relief, my family is doing fine. However, a magnitude 9 earthquake has devastated the whole country with an estimated 10,000 deaths. Monday’s New York Times reported 350,000 people have been left homeless and many thousands remain missing. Japan is also facing potential nuclear disaster as radiation levels are rising after an explosion at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant- at the time of this writing it is already beyond the 3-mile island accident in the US, and the worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl.
I am participating in a charity drive for donations with other Japanese parents from my son’s school. I am extending this to my store at SOHUNG DESIGN (312 E. 9th st.
NYC).
All contributions will go through the JAPAN SOCIETY, a trusted organization in NYC.
